So here’s the deal:
Some brothas from otha mothas and sistahs from different mistahs need some shoes. An organization called Soles4Souls has risen up to give us shoe-abundant folk a chance to provide some foot cushion for the foot pushin’. They’re throwing out a major challenge to get 50,000 pairs of shoes donated in 50 days.
I put myself out there and said I’m pretty sure I can get 1,000 pairs of those shoes donated. I’ve been known to have fillet Mignon taste with a hamburger budget. But wouldn’t it be sweet if we could do it??
Here’s the scoop:
$5 gets 2 pairs of shoes donated to someone who needs them. $5 for 2 PAIRS!! Just think of the dumb crap you could sacrifice for a $5 donation…um…coffee for a day or two, two Pepperoni Pizza Lunchables, half a car wash…hmm…come to think of it, $5 isn’t much at all. C’mon…you’ve got $5.
Or how about this?
$10 for 4 pairs of shoes.
$20 for 8 pairs of shoes.
$50 for 20 pairs of shoes.
$250 for 100 pairs of shoes.
I just donated 50 bucks. That’s 20 pairs of shoes going out to those who need them and it was super supremo easy. Just go to www.50000shoes.com and click on the DONATE 2 PAIRS OF SHOES FOR $5 button. You can donate as much as you want - a $10 or more donation gets you a free flip flop keychain. No seriously it does.
BUT WAIT!! THERE’S MORE!! - If you donate money to the 50,000 pairs in 50 days challenge and leave a comment letting me know how many pairs of shoes you donated, you’ll be entered into a drawing to win a $50 Amazon.com gift card.
Together we can come up with 1,000 pairs of shoes donated from this little area of the blogosphere. Let’s do it. Check out www.50000shoes.com for more details.

I donated 25 dollars which equals out to 10 pairs of shoes. This is one area of my faith that I have struggled. Giving to the church as far as offering goes. I have a hard time with letting go of that control. I have hard time giving 10% to my 401k cause its money I can not touch right now. So when things like this come up I tend to do it and not think about it. Leap of faith.

Since we have 50 days, I’m going to wait until Friday when my husband gets paid (we have $1.55 in our bank account right now), and then I’ll happily donate $10. Thank you for letting us know about this opportunity to help those in need.

Wow, I wish my shoes were that cheap. I guess its a good thing my shoes aren’t that cheap. I would have stacks of shoes. Anyhow, I bought 10 more pairs.

20 pairs right with you brother!

Very cool, Ryan. It is insane that we can go and spend $100 bucks on a trendy, in-style pair of shoes, and that money could have put much needed foot wear on 40 people!!!!
We’re in!

By the way, I like the new format. Let us know how it compares to “Blogger.”

Awesome!! Keep it up!!
Oh…and by the way - I think it’s worth noting that at this point, more men have commented than women for the first time in pretty much forever.
Hang with me…still learning the wordpress setup. I’ll post on it soon!

My daughter goes to a Christian school, and they always do an annual offering. One of the teachers went to Ecudor this summer, and went with this ministry. This ministry is benefitting this year from the kids. The first offering was over $370!

I knew I could count on all of you to get some serious footwear donated.
So far I know of over 180 pairs of shoes donated just from this blog…plus there are tons of other blogs pointed towards this today. 49 days left…

I wonder if I could just send a bunch of pairs of shoes I’ve never worn … I’m such a dirty shoe whore.
Alright! So I’ll donate the money!

Love your blog. Found you through PW. Funny that a cattle rancher in Oklahoma led me to a blog right down the street. We live in Fairfield and go to Vineyard Cincinnati.
Donated 20 pairs with you.

I could only do 2 pair for $5 but I’m passing the information along to some friends in hopes that they can help as well.
{reply}
I’ll be in for 4 pair as soon as I get paid tomorrow. Wish I could do more but alas….
{reply}
I’m a little late, but I donated 4 pairs of shoes.
{reply}
You all are definitely not too late!! We’ve got about 48 more days to go still!!
From what I hear…there have been around 3,000 pairs of shoes donated thus far. That means about 47,000 more to go, but there is still 48 days. We’ll hit it again soon!
Thanks to you all for your hearts.

Craziest thing. I’m here as a missionary in Tanzania. Someone just gave me a pair of Soles for Souls and I didn’t know what this whole movement was. Then I came to your site in the US and found out. The world is small.
These shoes are out here people. I can testify

I first saw this organization at some races my sister and I participated in. They often set up a booth at marathons. Inspired me to so a church event called “Soul Sisters” where we collected shoes to donate to a local rescue mission. Glad to see someone encouraging donations to such a great mission!

Thanks for the spotlight on this awesome way to help -we donated 4 pairs. It’s really great that you’ve brought this to the forefront b/c I would never have known about it otherwise!
{reply}
I’m in for 4 pairs! And I have a nifty free keychain on the way.
{reply}
4 pairs.

I just want to say thank you for posting this. I would not have known about such a wonderful organization otherwise. I just made donations in honor of my 8 nieces and nephews in lieu of Christmas gifts.
Have a great holiday season!
