Not very long ago a book was released called, Not what I was planning: Six-Word Memoirs by writers famous and obscure It can be found here <—click.
I am fascinated by things like this. Essentially, it’s just a collection of six-word statements people made to sum up their lives. Here are some examples:
Stephen Colbert’s contribution: “Well, I thought it was funny.”
Joan Rivers: “Liars: hysterectomy didn’t improve sex life.”
Celebrity Chef Mario Batali: “Brought it to a boil, often.”
Other examples:
“Towel thrown in. God returned it.”
“Honoring my past. Building my future.”
“Life is too short for apathy.”
“Helping people to help themselves, everyday.”
As I look through these, I try to figure out what a six-word memoir for my life would look like. A memoir is pretty much just an account of someone’s life, a biography. To do it in six words seems silly in some senses and completely brilliant in others. It causes you to think hard about who you are and what you’re really all about. Of course there is plenty of room for humor to be thrown in too. Hmm…
Having thought about this for approximately 5 seconds, I would have to say this is my six-word memoir:
“Raised by wolves, leading the pack.”
If you were to come up with a six-word memoir for yourself, what would it be? Try not to think to hard and post it down below. It can be serious, funny, or just plain weird.
Just keep it to six words.
