Baby Bump Update…

Allison is 21 weeks along in the pregnancy at this point. If you ask me…I think she’ll be able to make it the entire 40…she’s just that good.

Here’s our latest ultrasound photos:

Ultrasound1

Ultrasound4

Psalm 139

13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth

It’s interesting when you go in for an ultrasound at this point and you’re still wanting to be surprised on the gender of the baby. Well…I guess I should say that we want to be surprised by a boy or a girl…not surprised by…both. But, anyway…it’s interesting to look away at certain times to avoid the possible detection of a wiener on the screen.

We looked away when we needed to and we’re still not sure if it’s a boy or a girl. The important thing is that we’ve been informed that everything looks healthy and normal. When you’re 16 you don’t want to be normal…when you’re 21 weeks…you definitely do. Thanks be to God for that.

We still like the name Scarlett for a girl, and we’re starting to narrow down some names for a boy. Here are some of the boy-names we like right now:

* Cole
* Finley
* Abram
* Warren
* Benjamin
* Luke
* Drew

Trust me though…these are NOT set in stone. We have no idea really.

Any thoughts on a boy name?

    I love Abram and Benjamin ALOT.

    My son’s name is Samuel, so of course that name means alot to me. If my next child is a boy i want to name him Henry Earl or William Eldrige and if my next baby is a girl I like Anagrace Ruth or Emmah Brooke.

    Congrats! :)

    I like names like Luke, Stephen, Benjamin, and Tyler they seem timeless to me. My cousins’ surname is Finley, so I like that name too… I’m sure the name you and Allison come up with (if need be) will be perfect. I really like the name Scarlett…it’s very elegant.

    All my kids have single syllable names on purpose. Luke and Gage and Brad were boy names we loved and didn’t use. I have only ever met one person with this name, and I don’t know why I love it so much, but I do. I would have loved to have named one of my kids Cree.

    Look Buddy. We have our own names to think of over here. I mean, one boy name isn’t so tough. Even two is okay. But three gets to be a little more challenging, and I know how name stealers operate….:) j/k
    I like Benjamin. As long as you don’t nickname him Benji. Being called the same thing as a scruffy Hollywood dog….not cool.
    But I don’t think either one of us really need to worry about that, because we’re both having girls anyway.

    We named our son Ness Elliott, but not after Eliot Ness, mind you, but after Ness from the SNES game Earthbound. The idea of my little man one day donning a striped shirt and backpack and saving the world? Well, it’ll make for some good bedtime stories. But all the choices you have are great too!

    My first born is Christopher, our second is Nicholas. When our third baby was due on Christmas day every one said we should name it something appropriate for the holiday… hello what’s left for “Christmas boy” names?

    We were really leaning towards Ezekiel, which I still really love, my grandmother had such a fit about what a horrible name that was that we ended up changing it to Taylor - boy or girl. Too bad, because Zek would have been very fitting for Taylor as well.

    My point being, from that point on, I never ask anyone about baby names as I think it’s something so special between the three of you that it should not be spoiled by someone else’s opinion.

    The name you choose will always be perfect for your child.

    Luke was our first pick for our oldest son (now 27, and named Jason!). Our family nixed it (first lesson - don’t tell your family until it’s a done deal). Secondly, Luke just didn’t go with our last name… too many ‘k’s. It does rhyme with puke though, and you do have to try to eliminate nicknames or future harassing by other kids. Good luck!

    I like my formula for naming a boy. It should have something to do with his fathers name without being the fathers name. For example. My son’s name is Byrne- pronounced Burn. His Dad’s name is Bryan. Looks the same doesn’t sound the same at all. Not sure what you could do with Ryan, but I am fond of the names with Y’s in them. Kind of a theme with me. My daughters name is Gwynn. (side note my son is born on a child hood friends bday, name Rayburn, so it has double meaning)

    Congrats!

    Boys names… Ah. I have some experience choosing those. My five sons are named Liam, Aidan, Ty, Leif and Rowan. And my Aidan came before it started being trendy. Who knew when I picked a traditional good old Irish name that I would have so much company in a couple year’s time???

    I love the name Finn. I have a cousin who named her boy Angus and they call him Gus. I love that name, too. Aaaand I have a brother named Luke. So I love that name, too. But if you’re looking for something that can’t be shortened just be careful. My husband is named Dan -not Daniel- and has spent his entire life telling people that “No. Not Daniel. Just Dan.”

    Congrats, although I was hoping to see a photo of Allison in here - not just her insides! I suggest taking the (really good) advise of others here and DON’T ask for suggestions on names. Invariably someone’s feelings will get hurt.

    Trust me, don’t ask for suggestions - my kids wouldn’t even give us a hint on names when they were expecting (all 5 times) and it drove me crazy, but I can tell you that when they finally got their boy and then named him Glenn….well, lets just say I’m still not crazy about it. If I’d had months to hassle them over it he might have had a more “normal” name. But alas, it’s a name that’s important to them and so they went with it. You guys need to choose a name that means something to you - and to heck with what everyone else thinks.

    I’m so excited that you’re wanting this baby to be a surprise; I didn’t have the stamina to do that with any of my four children! As for names, I named my girls Russian names (I’m first generation American) but somehow my only son ended up as Kyle… simple, to the point, works with his last name but no real reason behind it. Overall I love names that mean something, even if it’s seemingly insignificant.

Abram doesn’t quite roll of the tongue like other boy names seem to. Scarlette is an adorable name. So is Finley. Warren reminds me of the polygamist FLDS guy in Colorado City, Arizona.

    I love my first name now but when I was a youngster, not so much. When I married, I moved my maiden to middle and dropped the very goofy middle name my parents saddled me with. I agree with others that have said, don’t ask for advice, just go for something you love. Say it out loud a lot, the whole name, first middle last, and see if the “ring” of it sounds good and strong. Boys need strong names. Don’t go too trendy- what is really cool and fresh now might not be so cool in 10 years. Meaning was important to us, and I’m not into the recent trend of “made up” sounding names. It’s family tradition many generations back in husband’s family for the first born grandson to be named after paternal grandfather, hence Joe, Nick, Joe, Nick ad nauseum (after they arrived in America from Sicily and Giuseppi became Joe and Nicolo became Nick, that is). Have fun, and blessings on the pregnancy!

    Many Orthodox Jews believe that names are Divinely given to parents, either at some point during the pregnancy or soon after birth. My daughters are named for relatives who have passed away while my sons have their first names for relatives and their middle names to express a deeper message.

    My 22 month old is Netanel (Nathaniel) Simcha. Nathaniel is my husband’s paternal grandfather and the name means God gives. Simcha is Hebrew for joy/happiness and taken together, his name means “God gives joy/happiness”. He was conceived after a year of fertility treatments so having his name express our profound gratitude to God was important to me.

    Our newborn, who was named only yesterday at his Brit, is Elchanan Nissim. Elchanan was my husband’s maternal grandfather and the name means “God’s Grace”. Nissim means miracles… He was born between the Jewish holidays of Purim and Passover (both big miracle stories), he was born the day before the start of the Hebrew month of Nissan, he was conceived naturally - right when I was getting ready to start fertility treatments and there was a certain level of drama with his birth that we’re grateful to have gotten past.

    BTW, when learning about the early stories of Abraham and Sarah, I was always taught that when Abraham was known as Abram, the missing Hebrew letter of ‘HEY’ was because it was before he found God. It was only after he accepted monotheism and was able to accept God into his heart that he became known as Abraham… Just something for you to consider :)

    I love ASHER for a boy…it means happy or blessed. I also love JUDAH…it sounds like a strong boy name.

    We have 5 kids - 4 girls and a boy (finally!). I always told my husband that he got to name the baby if we ever had a boy, since, for the most part, I came up with all the girls names. Everyone thought I was crazy and thought I should be frightened! I think he did an awesome job! His name is Asher. He got it from the Bible - I think he said that he only found it mentioned twice. I love it and he gets complimented on his name all the time!

    Next to Salvation, this has got to be the most amazing miracle ever. Time and time again this little miracle sparks, and along comes a new little life. My favorite time in the whole world was carrying my babies and feeling them move.

    Blessings.

    Oh, and Judah means praise. We had Felix Judah set aside as a “spare”. It means happy praise. Felix Isaac means happy laughter, but my sister stole the Isaac part.

    I’m liking Cole but here are my faves…I’m a little biased.

    Asa- “Healer/Physician” one of the few good kings from the OT AND is my son’s name ;) BUT…I know it’s really really close to Ava (which we liked for a girl…but we named our girl Avery b/c of the one letter off thing)

    Graeme - Scottish spelling of Graham (my sister and BIL just a had a boy and named him that)

    From a teacher—If you don’t want him to be one of 6 in his class, go with Warren, Abram, or Finley. All of the others are WAY too common right now. Also, make sure you think about nicknames that could be derived from his name. Boys can be cruel to each other, just like teenage girls.

    Beautiful names all and beautiful family! The LOVE project is wonderful and you have inspired me to do the same! My favorite boy’s name currently is Parker. I have no idea why- never knew a Parker in my life- if you don’t count Parker Stevenson, the Hardy Boy. It’s cute, too, with a middle name with a “J”, then you get a PJ if that’s a nickname that fits him.
    It was on my short list for my 22 month old, but her name is Madeline Grace. (Liked Madilyn, too).

    I love the name Scarlett.

    My son’s name was picked after flip flopping between “Beavis” and “Taz” (because we couldn’t decide on a name).

    At the gyno’s on my second magazine, I saw the label on the one I was reading. L** COULTER L*****. When I saw my doc after he’d just delivered the baby, I asked if he would mind if we named our son that-he agreed, after telling me the origin-him mom’s maiden name.

    You’re more than welcome to it! It’s different without being TOO different.

    I like Seth; that is the only boy name I would consider when I was pregnant with our son. We wanted a name that was short and didn’t have a nickname to go with it. His middle name is David (my dad’s middle name). When he was born our daughter called him “Seth & David” for months!
