I went in yesterday and got tattooed for a little over 3 hours. For now, my right arm sleeve is complete. We’ve agreed that I’ll come in at a future date to touch some areas up and whatnot…but for now…it’s done! I’ve got over 25 hours of tattoo work put into this arm. Normally, it might not take this long to complete a sleeve, but anyone who has ever tattooed me always has the same thing to say…
YOU’RE ARMS ARE LIKE LEATHER!!
I’m not sure if that’s good or bad, but here are some shots from yesterday. I took my housemate Ryan…gee golly I hate having someone live with we who has the same first name…to shoot some photos.
Oh yeah…and I also added in a section of recent podcasts from my latest teachings at Vineyard Westside. It’s located below Ava’s photo in the right side-bar. Feel free to take a listen.

Arms like leather? O.k., can we say OUCH!!! 20 minutes was enough for me, can not begin to imagine 3 hours. Can’t wait to see it in person though!

Saturday my sister, my friend, and myself will be going to get wrist tattoos. My sister’s will say “Forgiven”, my friend’s will say “Remember Me”, and mine will say “Be Still”. So. Stinking. AWESOME!

Wow! Awesome sleeve. It looks great, and I’m sure it was really uncomfortable to get. But well worth it. Do you have pics of all of it? I’m sure we’d all love to see them.

These are great shots! I can’t imagine 3 hours with leather arms. That just sounds so pain filled!

Oy, and not just any place on your arm. The inside, fleshy part! I heard that’s supposed to hurt more than any other part of your body. And you’re just sipping your coffee, all calm. Crazy preacher man. Crazy!

Oh my! I’ve been longing to get a tattoo for YEARS, but I don’t think I can handle the pain. I think I’d pass out after 5 minutes, let alone 3 hours.

You are one brave soul. I would be scared to death. Are you a glutton for pain or do you just like to look really cool? I will say it does look great.
Have a great day.

Tell me… how can you manage to look that calm and almost bored while someone is tattooing one of the most painful areas of your body?!?! I can’t believe it! My friend got a supersmall star on her elbow and she was in soo much pain… I’m afraid to get ANYTHING done.

I would be interested to know the details of your tattoos and why you chose each one. I noticed the Lion and the scripture. What scripture is it?

Well, yes, tatoos are quite a work of art, but… ah, never mind.
Kudos to you for managing unnecessary pain with a straight face

All I can say is “impressive”!

I would need something much stronger than a cup of coffee to get me through that…like ANESTHESIA!!!!

We need to see all those photos in COLOR!!

The tattoo artist did a fantastic job. That’s my fear, if I ever decided to get one the person would just do really terrible work.

WHY???????????????

Beautiful! Like the others, I would love to see it in color, and hear a bit of the story behind the sleeve.
I have three tattoos currently. Two were pretty impulsive decisions, but I still love them. The third I received a month or so ago, and is the first of many going up my spine (from my tail bone to my hairline). My first one says family in Japanese Kanji, which is the most important thing in my life.
The next three (which I have an appt for, for a week from tomorrow!!!!) are going to be Serenity, Courage, and Wisdom from the serenity prayer (all in kanji). My 14 year old son is in rehab (9 months sober today YAHOO), and the serenity prayer has become so important to me, and is what gets me through the day, each and every day.
Haven’t decided what the next ones will be, but the final one will be love. Life starts and ends with family and love, and I feel that would be very appropriate for me
