I’m back in Cincinnati after 7 glorious and awful days in Honduras. It flew by and it took forever.
I’ve got no clue where to begin with the writing process. A friend said as we were leaving Honduras that he felt like it was a big zip file and he needed some time to un-compress everything in his head. That about sums it up for me. Wading through hordes of photographs is daunting in itself…I’ll have to share more over quite a few days. For now, here are some random shots. Feel free to ask questions about them and hopefully it will help me to focus and explain.
These photos and experiences have nothing to do with turning my world upside-down, and everything to do with turning it right-side up.

Oh these are just amazing!
I am curious about the puffy eye pic, the machete, all those cute kiddos, what the hardest part was, and the most rewarding…

So happy you are home safe and sound. Although I only know you from reading your blog - I prayed for your safety while you were away. The pictures are amazing! Thanks for sharing.

You need time to heal and to digest and reflect on your trip before you can share with us. Take your time…great pictures and I love the last sentence in your post - very powerful words! Be well Ryan.

WOW! Amazing pictures….absolutely amazing. I makes me long to be there, but allows me to be there just the same. Brings tears to my eyes. I continually stand in awe at God’s goodness and love…. thank you for sharing these. Praying that whatever is going on with your eye in that pic is gone and you’ve been healed. ugh!

so.. tell us about the horrid poison ivy… how are you doing? was there some in that bonfire? ugh.. was sorry to hear about that, but rejoicing that God continues to do mighty things in and through and to this team. Hope Allison and Ava fared well, though I know they missed you. And Happy New Uncle! Wasn’t Lincoln born the day you left? Will look forward to hearing more later… blessings, bro.

Fantastically moving experience. How does one even begin to un-zip? I understand the need to digest and re-group. Savor, heal, and just breathe.
Wonderful share-thank you.

With pictures like these, not much of a writing process is needed! Thank you for taking this trip and for bringing back such amazing photos so the rest of us can see in living color, or black and white, the beauty of God’s creation and the serving actions you and other blessed people are taking on His behalf.

I’ve looked through your pictures three times now. I miss the people, I miss my “family” down there. I miss the kids smiles, the simpleness of life, the humidity and the mountains. Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. I will always long to go back and continue the relationships that were developed.
A few questions - you slept at the church? I’m impressed with the air mattresses - had to make the backpacks so heavy! Our trips are $2000/week - we stay at a hotel the whole week. We just can’t afford going this year. I wonder if we stayed at the church we built if it would be so much cheaper, but not as convenient or safe. (I got a nasty spider bite on my leg last year that proved to be very painful.)
Okay, I’ll quit now. Can’t wait to read the blog about your trip!

Wonderful pictures. Great work!

My question, how do you carry your tools with you…shovels and larger items?
Another question: did the poison ivy get your eye? ouch!
{reply}
Great pics. Where in Honduras did you minister? It looks like quite a trek was involved.
It took me weeks before I could even begin to accurately articulate my heart and thoughts after coming back from Kenya in November. Even now, there are memories I can’t seem to put to words but they have completely changed the landscape of my heart. Give yourself time, it’ll come.
