I’m going to take part in the Capture Cincinnati photo project this year. I’ve never entered before, but I figure it might be fun. I’ve only got this one image in there so far. I took it about 8 years ago early one morning. It’s on slide film since that’s what I shot primarily before digital came along. This image is one of the reasons why I love Cincinnati. You can go 10 minutes from my house and be in the inner city, or 10 minutes the other direction and feel like you’re in the country. This was taken around the Shaker Trace Trail in Miami Whitewater Park.
Thanks to my friend Kelly for letting me borrow her slide scanner.

Stunning…

This is the stuff I miss dearly whenever I’m out of the States. There is nothing like springtime in the Midwest. You got my vote!

Beautiful photo, Ryan.
This sounds like an interesting challenge. I will have to see if they have something similar in NYC.
Here is another for you http://worldwidephotowalk.com/.

Awesome, Ryan! Thanks for bringing back memories of Cincy for me. I do love how close to nature you can get from there–that and Skyline Chili

Beautiful photo! I’ve never heard of Shaker Trace. Is Miami Whitewater Park just north of Cincy?

I am from Ohio and did live in Cincy for a couple years…my oldest daughter was born there. All my family lives mostly around the Dayton area and then scattered around the US. I am living in Switzerland right now and see meadows like this all the time. However, it is more special when it is from back “home”.

Here in Minnesota, each week there is a different combination of wildflowers in the fields and on the side of the rural roads. I’ve been watching, trying to figure out how to shoot the majesty of these glorious flowers…and I come here and find you’ve done that! Thanks for the inspiration. I’m going to go out and try again.

Normally, I am a lurker but today I wanted to “speak” up and let you know that you have a wonderfully talented eye. I really like this pic. It reminds me of how beautiful the world can truly be and what a miracle it is to be in it. To paraphrase a line from an old movie… I think G** gets sad when you walk by the color purple without noticing it.

Just came to your site for the first time via the pioneer woman. Such a beautiful photo. Would you ever consider making this photo available to the masses??? How can I get a copy??? I do love it.

GAW-GEOUS! I will vote.
Have a great day!

I’ll vote, very beautiful pic. Here in Texas we only get springtime flowers like that for about a week, then it’s summer and everything slowly turns brown.

Wow. Beautiful photo!

Beautiful photo! I voted for it!

I just found your blog this week. I love your recipes and your photo “classes”! You explain things in a great way – my roommate tried to explain aperture to me one time, and gave up in frustration exclaiming, “You don’t deserve this camera!”
{reply}
I gladly voted for you photo, because it is beautiful!
At least i hoped I voted, there was a snafu, then they said I had voted….

It would be brutal, and a great challenge.
