No darkness at all…

God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. // 1 John 1:5

WalkInTheLight

Just remember this: God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good.

If this messes with your theology, crumples your chi, un-centers your energy, or ruffles your karma…you might just need to examine who it is you’re truly following. God loves you, and He’s pulling for you.

LOVE WINS [period]

Say, why don't you post a comment, subscribe via RSS, or follow me on twitter?

Thank you. This post came just in time for me. I was feeling pretty low – well, alright – depressed.

Thank you for lifting me up. I needed that. The thing is, I didn’t know it. I didn’t know I needed to be rescued.

And that’s all I have to say – for now.

I completely agree…. Any suggestions (from anyone!) about how to encourage and gently remind a friend about this in an appropriate way who just suffered a truly wrenching miscarriage??

    David says:

@Melanie, Melanie, just follow Jesus’ advice and mourn with those who mourn. There are no words that will remove the pain, but being present with someone who is suffering loss is truly the best way to help them. Show the love of God to your friend…and don’t forget the father as well. He’s probably hurting too!

    Again, AMEN!

  5. Kristin says:

That is….ironic. When I can’t make it to my church, God brings fellowship to me. And so appropriate, as my exact words yesterday during the most wretched “morning” sickness were, “God is punishing me.” Sometimes I get a very Jonathan Edwards, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God attitude.

I think you may have just provided the kick in the butt I need to remember that despite what I’m going through, no matter what I’m going through, God is blessing me. And that? That’s a miracle.

    Amen. True words, well spoken.

Melanie, I’m so sorry about your friend. I’ve been there myself with miscarriage and also the loss of our third child who only lived 5 days. He would have been 12 July 17. Just hold your friend and love her. Miscarriage is a death. Death is the result of sin entering the world and God hates sin. He’s not punishing her and He is hurting for her and longing to comfort her. Jesus is the One who will redeem it all.

    Melanie – re: miscarriage
your friend is not alone – she has joined a fellowship of sisters not of her own choosing (nor of God’s). It is a journey of pain, but like Much Afraid (in my fav Hind’s Feet on High Places), that sorrow and suffering will be transformed into Grace and Glory. We don’t have to understand God’s ways… yet we know He is trustworthy. Yes, hold her hand, grieve with her, pray for her. Allow her to remember in safety. Help her focus on the eternal truth that God does love her and will carry her through. Thanks for being the heart and hands of Jesus for her.

    blessings.

Amen, Ryan. Thank you for that message.

And Kristin, if I read your post right, you’re expecting a blessing, coming quicker than you believe right now. I too had “morning” sickness. It gets better, you do get a chance to enjoy being pregnant, and the gift at the end is so worth it-evidence that God above loves us and wants to give us the most perfect blessings for us!

We start out every Sunday with our Pastor saying “God is Good”, and we say “All the time.” Then he says “All the time,” and we say “God is Good.”

I’m writing because your verses have meshed 100% with the daily journal of Tom and Robbie Kirkendall, Santa Cruz, CA. July 5 was the day the writing began. (www.journeythroughfire.blogspot.com) That was the day of this posting: God is Good – All the Time. Then, yesterday Jacob’s father wrote “What Time is It? and you shared from Ecclesiastes. The Holy Spirit is definitely at work.

Long story short: A 17 year-old young man trying to do a good deed by putting out a potentially huge fire comes into contact with high voltage line. He is burned inside and out, through his skin and bone. 2 weeks in ICU burn unit, still alive. His dad, a pastor, and brother, an amazing Christ-follower, are sharing their painful faith-walk daily. Their writing is honest, challenging, gut-wrenching, and God-honoring in every way. They request prayer. Please, everyone pray for Jacob and his family.
