@Melanie, Melanie, just follow Jesus' advice and mourn with those who mourn. There are no words that will remove the pain, but being present with someone who is suffering loss is truly the best way to help them. Show the love of God to your friend...and don't forget the father as well. He's probably hurting too!

I’m writing because your verses have meshed 100% with the daily journal of Tom and Robbie Kirkendall, Santa Cruz, CA. July 5 was the day the writing began. (www.journeythroughfire.blogspot.com) That was the day of this posting: God is Good – All the Time. Then, yesterday Jacob’s father wrote “What Time is It? and you shared from Ecclesiastes. The Holy Spirit is definitely at work.

Long story short: A 17 year-old young man trying to do a good deed by putting out a potentially huge fire comes into contact with high voltage line. He is burned inside and out, through his skin and bone. 2 weeks in ICU burn unit, still alive. His dad, a pastor, and brother, an amazing Christ-follower, are sharing their painful faith-walk daily. Their writing is honest, challenging, gut-wrenching, and God-honoring in every way. They request prayer. Please, everyone pray for Jacob and his family.
