Yes, I think THAT may be the cutest look ever and as for a worthy suitor...I don't think there ever will be no matter how sensational he may be. As least not in her daddy's eyes. And that's ok. :)

The pic of Ava - you have it title Avabeauty I believe - is stunning. Your daughter is gorgeous and you had better be prepared with a big stick to beat boys off. Little Finn is growing so fast. I love meeting your family through your thoughts. They are well loved. By the way, when are you going to see Ree again? I loved reading about that trip.

Dude,I didn't know you got to go up in a helicopter. I thought it was a hot air balloon wedding? After all of those years I spent in the Air Force, I still have yet to go up in a chopper. Awesome stuff bro!

Well said, Ryan. I say that as someone who has railed against the (fantastical) illusion that fairy tales give that when a woman finds the right man she'll live 'happily ever after' (the only One who can ensure that is God). I also believe women are as much warriors as men are and are as responsible as men are for their own lives and choices). But I also agree that it's pointless and paralyzing to worry about all the 'what ifs' that could happen down the road. I know this from experience. I reeealllyy know it. That kind of thinking has done much damage to my life and dreams. Ava is a strong, beautiful girl who is taught to be who she is. I love that you and Allyson are raising your kids in their identity as children of the King...How that plays out and what it looks like in their futures remains to be seen. It is a privilege to be one of the ones who gets to wait and see with you!

Marth // I've always said that it's a possibility to be so open-minded that your brain falls out. Please don't take that comment as you being brainless, but rather it's more a check in my personal parenting to not spend hours each day being overly diplomatic.

Ava is currently 3 years old and she already has dreams of being the princess who is rescued by the prince. Have I instilled this in her or is it something that has come from the core of her little 3 year old being? Couldn't tell ya. Probably a little bit of both. She's 3, and yet she already talks of being married some day to a man...that's what's been modeled to her and so that's what she wants. If this changes in the future, I'll navigate those waters as they come under the boat.

It's my job as her daddy to show her what I believe a strong, loving man looks like as a husband and a father. I will never do her the disservice of placing endless possibilities in her head that compete for the overwhelmingly apparent desire of her heart.

She knows that I love her and that Jesus loves her more than I ever could...no matter what. And that will NEVER change.

Lovely photos as usual. After reading your comment about Ava and her potential MALE HUSBAND, I got to thinking...why do so many parents assume their child is straight and is going to or wanting to get married in the future? I guess you could say it's because of wishful thinking or close-mindedness to reality and various possibilities, but parents really should not delimit their children by assuming they are going to have a stereotypically, straight, and/or married type of future. Why can't they just hope for the child's happiness no matter with whom (no matter the gender) the child falls in love in the future, if that even happens. *sigh*
