Yesterday it snowed.
A lot.
My staff meeting was canceled and somehow I ended up with Ava and Finn all day. I thought about working from home, but I quickly realized how utterly lame that would be. So we decided to go sled riding with some friends instead. The following photos stem from an effort to not be a dweeby dad.
“Hey Ava! You sure are good at making snowballs. Can you make me one?”
Little punk. She teamed up with Jonah for some good snowball fight action.
They make a good team. He provides the strength.
And she provides the beauty.
Here’s Jon. He throws large snowballs at tiny little girls.
But then he makes up for it by carrying them up hills when their tiny little legs are too tired.
Then he has the nerve to push the tiny little girl down a large hill.
I think she likes it. Even though she did hit a jump that we never thought she’d hit at the bottom and flew several feet into the air followed by a spectacular faceplant. Still, she likes it.
Here’s Jack. He’s the only one who did worse faceplants than Ava.
Well…maybe this kid.
These are so much more effective in the snow than in other forms of precipitation.
Time to go back inside, where Melanie has been sniffing Finn’s head for a couple of hours. Poor Hazel had no idea the princess torture Ava was going to put her through. She didn’t mind though. She’s glam. Dogs need pink toenails now and again.
Wow…you’re right. That dog does have more nipples on her left side. Hmm.
After several hours of sledding, snowball making, and dog torturing, we headed back to our house. Which I think looks a lot better with a thick blanket of snow on it. Yesterday was a good day.

this looks like so much fun. all we get is cold and wind. no snow. your dog is what all other dogs want to be with that extra nipple she’s rockin’.

What a magical day! The pictures of the kids were gorgeous and the dog had me totally laughing.
And then I had to go back and stare at its nipples.

I think all our houses look better with a thick blanket of snow and warm light in the windows at night–a wonderful place to be!

I love the snow pics. I live in Hawaii and we get snow on top of our mountain (Mauna Kea) but nothing like the snow I grew up with in Nebraska.

Great pictures. Looks like so much fun! Way to go on not working at home!

Glad to know you’re not a dweeb dad. Cool pictures of the house and Ava is probably going to be glad for the non-face plant pics but she’s cute squeezing the eyes shut.

such sweet photos! How do you get your white balance just right in the snow? Mine is always too blue.

The whole post was wonderful and yes, I giggled like a school girl when you mentioned “nipples”. The poor dog will not be able to walk around town anymore.

Fun photos! Very enjoyable. The expressions you captured on Ava are priceless!

Wait a second, what are those Price kids doing outside? Homeschoolers don’t get snow days!

Love the look on Ava’s face going down that hill. I don’t know who had more fun, you guys or Melanie!

Look how hard Ava is working to blow-dry Hazel’s nails! Her hands are clenched in tight little fists!

just when I thought that Beans couldn’t get any cooler, she goes and dons a Kangol cap. She is just a rock star in book!!!

The house looks so warm and cozy…I imagine there might have been hot chocolate inside.
I think you would have to try pretty hard to be a dweeb dad.
I love the sledding pictures, that her eyes are shut the entire time. So cute and funny.

I’m jealous of you! We got lots of snow in Dec, now it turns into solid ice
I love pictures of Ava sliding. It’s really funny and cute to see her closed her eyes tightly.

You will remember that day for a long time, enjoy them while you can!

My husband was working from home during our crazy snow storm and he took lots of time out to play with our kids in the snow. Awesome pictures and great memories for your kiddos!

I love that Ava sledded down the hill with her eyes closed! That made me smile.
My friend daughter is beyond dispair today – she heard on the news that we were having a NOR’EASTER – she threw herself on the floor and cried, I know it is Valentine’s season, but now NO EASTER!
I’m still laughing! Hope that makes all of you smile today!
