Fighting against FALSE community…

DSC_0151

I took a bit of a risk this past weekend.
I made a fresh salsa during 3 weekend teachings at Vineyard Westside.

During the message I also mentioned my thoughts on Facebook being biblical and what it means to move past surface-level relationships. You’ll have to listen in to see what it was all about.

At the end of the message I threw out a few questions and some possible starting points.
I’ll share those with you here as well:

1. Am I okay with having surface-level relationships with everyone?
2. Outside of my family, who can I really trust?
3. Do I have people in my life that I can call at 3am when everything is falling apart?
4. Are there people around me who can strengthen me when I’m weak?
5. Am I using my God-given gifts, talents, or abilities to serve my friends?
6. Am I investing MORE or LESS into the relationship than the person I’m trying to build a relationship with?

Steps towards authentic community:

1. Choose wisely. You don’t need to be friends with everyone.
2. Get coffee, have someone over for dinner, go play golf, etc..
3. Be intentional. Ask a deeper question // reciprocate.
4. Work at it. Don’t assume a relationship is fine.
5. Be transparent and authentic yourself.

Media Trifecta…

It was an open weekend at Vineyard Westside this past weekend. That means I had the opportunity to speak about whatever I felt like speaking about. I picked Jesus.

Feel free to have a listen to the podcast if you’re interested:

Also, this song won’t get out of my head. Our team rocked it out this past weekend at church and it’s got me stuck on repeat:

Goings on…

I took a bunch of short video clips with my Nikon D90 while I was in Honduras, but this one…at 18 seconds long…and in poor quality…is by far my favorite. It’s during a worship session we had going on under the stars – sitting next to the death fire that gave me my crazy poison ivy.

Speaking of Honduras…right when I left to go there this little bugger was born! Say hello to my new nephew Lincoln. Congratulations Andrea and Chris! I love you all so much and Link the Sink is awesome already.

Harrison is a good big brother…when he’s not trying to kick Lincoln.

Speaking of things being born…a new daily devotional blog has been born for Vineyard Westside to go along with our IGNITE series we are in. You can check out the teaching from this past weekend about Spiritual Disciplines —->HERE.

And check out the daily devotionals —->HERE.

Speaking of checking things out…here are some pics from yesterday when I took Ava to the Butterfly Show @ Krohn Conservatory. We got some rare photos together because my friend Ryan was with us shooting with my camera.

Allison was so sad that she couldn’t go. Instead, she spent most of the day in and out of doctor’s offices and the hospital due to a superficial blood clot that showed up on her leg a couple days ago. We traveled to the hospital together later in the day and had an ultrasound done. Now she’s got to wear some sexy compression stockings and go back in a few days for more tests…she’s doing well and she should be fine, but please pray for her!
